I am a local and we regularly eat here. Food is great but since Texas Monthly you literally can't get into this place to eat or call to make a to-go order. They will not answer phone if they are busy. It is a very very small place, so make sure you go very early to get in line. Right now, people are lined up before they open, and they usually run out of food by 1 or 2 pm. While I am glad they were recognized and doing so well, I honestly can't wait for the hipe to die down so I can enjoy it again. I also know many other locals who feel the same way. For right now I have given up going or calling until summer is over. :( But, if you want great BBQ and don't mind fighting crowds or standing in line for an hour, you should try it! The owners are really nice too.
Hands down best BBQ ever! BBQ is more then just the meat, it's about your friends and family that are there, and making memories. You're guaranteed the whole experience with Blue Moon. The quaint dining room is just an earful away from meeting new friends. Who knows, you might just run into an old (or new) cousin while you are there! The history runs deep in this neck of the woods. So be sure to belly up to a table and grab a glass of sweat tea and be ready to take all of this little piece of Gods country in, one bite, after tasty bite of BBQ at a time.
The 'que here was good, but as good as I had hoped when I first heard about it. I think part of the challenge was a very sweet but new cashier. I placed my typical order for a quarter of lean and moist brisket, and a quarter pound of sausage. She didn't quite hear me right orni said something odd, as what I got was just some lean brisket. It was good but not great. It was dry enough that I needed sauce, which seemed to be a commercial sticky-sweet variety - not what I expected. The potato salad was good. I probably don't make the trek to Hearne me again, unless I am already cutting over from I-45 to the College Station area.
We use Blue Moon catering for all of our functions. Every thing on the menu is beyond delicious and you cant beat the service. Rick, Toni and Matt will make sure you have a great experience!
Excellent! Truly a gem. Amazing chicken and delicious brisket. They can get really busy and they have limited seating. Great service and excellent BBQ, comparable to those "well known" places!
